We are super pleased to present Dj D, another one of our 45 Queens!

Believe us when we say, you’re in for a treat!

DJ D has had the honour of playing support for, and hosting a number of artists on her radio shows and in her 1964 Chevrolet Impala ragtop including Xzibit, Alkaholiks, DJ Yella(NWA), Curtis Young (Dr Dre’s son), Eric Wright (Eazy E’s son), Spice 1, Masta Ace (Crooklyn Dodgers), Danny Boy (2pac), Quez Outlaw (Outlawz), Skeelo, MC Lyte, Eminem’s Green Lantern, Bell Biv Devoes Ricky Bell, Naughty by Nature, KCI & JoJo, Montell Jordan, Afrika Islam, Horace Brown, Chingy, Snoop Dogg & Dr Dre’s DJ Jam, DJ Rectangle, The Alkaholiks, Wutang’s Solomon Childs, Blackstreet, Jon B, 112, Ryan Leslie, Redman, D.O.C., Public Enemy/Bomb Squad’s Keith Shocklee and De La Soul’s DJ Maseo to name a few.

Now to the mix and Dj D has this to say about it:

‘The Forty Five Kings 2nd Anniversary stream will always be a special one for me; my first time back on decks after 40 days without music following the passing of my honourable dad, the man that introduced me to the humble 45.

Hence I wanted to take a moment to replicate part of what I had done on the live stream in mix form, a Forty Five Kings mix that had been on my ‘to do’ list for some time.

So here it is – a composition of some of my favorite 45s hitting a number of eras and genres from 1965 to now, many of which fall under that hip hop samples list, with a few DJ D blends along the way.

Big ups to the Forty Five Kings Collective for keepin it real, for keepin this format alive and well in 2021, and for bringing those with a serious passion for that 7” vinyl together.
